This certificate provides a permanent, dated and verifiable record that the identified song, its recorded contents and associated publishing information were submitted to and published through MusiBee4 by the named creator or publisher account.

The song’s digital fingerprints, publication details and version history may be presented as supporting evidence that the identified material existed in the recorded form and was attributed to the named account holder on the date and time shown.

What is a SHA-256 fingerprint?

SHA-256 creates a unique digital fingerprint from a song file, lyrics, artwork or other document.

Even a tiny change to the file creates a completely different fingerprint. This allows MusiBee4 to show whether the recorded material is still exactly the same as it was when the certificate was issued.

The fingerprint does not reveal or reproduce the song. It is simply a secure way of identifying the exact recorded version.

SHA-256 creates a one-way digital fingerprint for each recorded song file, lyric document, artwork item and evidence manifest. The fingerprint identifies the exact recorded version without revealing or reproducing the creative work itself.

When the same unchanged file is checked again, it produces the same fingerprint. Even a tiny alteration creates a different result, helping a creator demonstrate that the material being presented is the same material recorded by MusiBee4 at publication.

The enhanced Proof of Publishing upgrade takes the SHA-256 fingerprint of the frozen MusiBee4 evidence manifest and submits only that fingerprint, not the creator’s actual song or documents, for DigiStamp RFC 3161 timestamping.

DigiStamp returns a digitally signed token containing the fingerprint, a secure UTC time, a serial number and the identity of the independent timestamp authority. This supports the MusiBee4 certificate by showing that the manifest fingerprint existed by that time and still matches the protected manifest.
